ARIELLE CORINNE ANACKER 12/28/89 - 1/19/2001 FOREVER 11
Arielle Corinne Anacker was a healthy baby girl born at 1:42 p.m. on December 28, 1989 in Boca Raton, Florida. She weighed eight (8) pounds even and had the most gorgeous blue eyes and reddish blonde hair. She lived in Cooper City with her mom Diane Trivelli and her dad William "Bill" Anacker. Arielle's first word was "SHOP" and her favorite stuffed animal was a little cat named Cookie! Arielle loved to suck her thumb and she would wrap her blanket around her finger and rub her nose! When Arielle was just ten months old, she was enrolled in her first Gymboree class. She had a black lab dog named Yogi and she loved to play with her dolls, ride in her Cozy Coupe and eat bagels and cream cheese. Arielle was a very happy baby and very much loved by everyone who met her!!
In 1991, Arielle and her mom moved to Coral Springs when her parents divorced. Arielle attended pre-school while her mom worked a full time job. Arielle spent a lot of time with her maternal grandparents and her aunt and cousins on the days that she was not in school.
In 1992, Arielle's dad had met and married her step-mom Suzi in July and one month later, Arielle's mom had married Ugo Trivelli in August. Arielle bonded very quickly with her new step-parents and everyone got along! In 1994, Arielle was attending Adventure Bay pre-school and she became a big sister, not once, but twice!! Her mom Diane gave birth to her baby brother Michael on April 29th, and Suzi gave birth to her little sister Jade on May 29th. Arielle was ecstatic to have new siblings that she could love and play with. On August 6, 1996, Diane gave birth to her third child and Arielle became a big sister again to baby brother Andrew. During this time, Arielle had been diagnosed with a bladder valve defect that was causing her to have urinary tract infections and under the care of a nephrologist, she was prescribed a daily oral antibiotic and a bladder control medication. This was the beginning of Arielle's medical issues.
Ugo and Diane had moved from an apartment to a townhome in Coconut Creek and were running their own business and raising three children. After a class field trip to Butterfly World during kindergarten, Arielle asked Diane if they could start a butterfly garden of their own.
Diane thought that it would be a great idea so that she could spend special "mommy/daughter" time with Arielle. Arielle was so excited to be featured on the Butterfly World video and soon after, she and Diane became known as the Butterfly Ladies. Arielle started Tradewinds Elementary as a first grader, taking gymnastics and dance classes while her brother Michael was attending pre-school and speech therapy and her baby brother Andrew was just that, a baby!
In June of 1997, after a full day of playing and swimming with friends, Arielle first complained of her left leg hurting. Diane thought that Arielle could have strained her muscles and gave her children's motrin and told her to rest. Diane remembers that Arielle complained a second time in August about her leg hurting, but this time Diane thought it could be growing pains and gave Arielle children's motrin.
Arielle did not complain again until November, after having an accident in gymnastics class. Arielle did a belly flop on the vault and the instructor told Diane that Arielle may have a bruise on her hip. The next day Arielle was screaming in pain at midnight and was crawling into Diane's bedroom yelling that her leg was killing her. Arielle asked Diane to feel a lump on her leg. Diane was shocked when she felt what seemed like a grapefruit behind Arielle's left thigh. Diane comforted Arielle as much as possible and the next day they were at the pediatrician's office. Arielle was scheduled to have her annual bladder and kidney tests performed and an MRI was scheduled to see what could be the cause of the lump behind Arielle's leg. Two days later, on November 25, 1997, Arielle's doctor called the house and asked Diane if she was sitting down...he told her that Arielle had Ewing's sarcoma bone cancer!!
Arielle and Diane flew to Bethesda, Maryland and spent the next three years fighting the horrific disease. Diane and Ugo bought a home in Coconut Creek in 1998. After years of traveling for chemotherapy, radiation, stem cell recovery, limb salvage surgery, multiple operations and dozens of blood transfusions, and all of the treatments and side effects that go along with fighting cancer, the cancer was still too aggressive and Arielle passed away on January 19, 2001, at the tender age of eleven!! :(
Not only was Arielle's cancer journey painful physically and emotionally, it was also a huge financial burden on the family.
Many family and friends came together and organized a few fundraisers to help with the some of the cost of Arielle's treatments and airfare.
Diane opened up a trust fund and before Arielle passed away, Diane promised Arielle that she would start a children's cancer foundation to help other needy families who have children fighting cancer and to this day, Diane is keeping that promise!!
Rest In Eternal Peace Arielle Corinne Anacker!! May your memory forever be a blessing!!
